- Expression of Interest are invited for Strengthening the Biopharmaceutical Industry in Saudi Arabia through a Modernized Intellectual Property Regime. The Saudi Ministry of Investment wants to better understand potential economic benefits and costs of a stricter approach to IP protection for the Kingdom. On the benefit side, there is an assumption that IP protection is a relevant factor for investment decisions by leading biopharmaceutical companies, which could make a significant contribution to economic development and future prosperity. However, there are potential trade-offs in form of higher costs for the government and for patients paying for their medicines out-of-pocket, and on domestic manufacturers and importers in terms of lost sales. The World Bank, under an existing partnership with MISA, will hire a consulting firm to collect available data and develop a report to MISA that can be used in discussions with other government entities and the private sector on the IP issue. The World Bank Group now invites eligible firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc. for firms; CV and cover letter for individuals). Please note that the total size of all attachments should be less than 5MB. Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
